The Seitwärts Avantgarde Jazz Festival has been offering a stage to German and international musicians of free improvisation and free jazz since 2015, takes place every two years and is a project supported by the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft (LAG) Jazz Niedersachsen e.V.. 

Between 17.11.21 and 20.11.21, the festival is now entering its fourth round and will open on Wednesday, 17.11.21, at the “Rampe”, Gerhardstr. 3, 30167 Hanover, with a concert by the New York duo Ingrid Laubrock on saxophone and Tim Rainey on drums. 

On Thursday, 18.11.21, 20:00 hrs, the legendary Jazz-Club Hannover, Am Lindener Berge 38, 30449 Hannover, will host Snakeoil from New York with the renowned saxophonist Tim Berne, a top-class international act, while one day later, on Friday, 19.11.21, also from 20:00 hrs, Rolf Kühn and his quartet Yellow+Blue, a German legend of the genre, will do the honours at the “Rampe”. 

On the last day of the festival, Saturday, 20.011.21, from 20:00 in the “Gartenhaus”, 

Küchengartenstr. 2a, 30449 Hanover, Christian Lillinger from Berlin, who as a drummer is considered one of the young savages of the scene, will be heard with the formation Grund. 

In addition, Kathrin Scherer (Cluster Quartett, 19.11.21, 20:00, “Rampe”) and Silke Eberhard (Silke Eberhard Trio, 20.11.21, 20:00, “Gartenhaus”), two of the most interesting German jazz saxophonists, will be represented with their bands.
